Spending an evening alongside amazing humans with the theme of creativity and adventuring is something we absolutely adore. This was in Galloway, Ohio on a Darby Creek Metro Park trail. We worked on a small portrait session for a friend of ours and the spot we shot in was natural light heaven. I brought my film camera along, the Canon AE-1, and the gang brought along their own film and digital cameras. There was no shortage of creative tools! We were blessed with such a stunning sunset to witness, I used the lenses I was born with to take it in with the hope it would stay engrained in my brain forever. This is the result of our captures.

Sometimes when you get ready for a date night, you end up feeling so fierce that you just have to do a mini session in your front yard. My wardrobe consists of many Nirvana and Kurt Cobain items since I'm a huge fan and I've really been loving the grunge fashion comeback this year. I've had many DIY ideas for some amazing grunge pieces I hope to execute in the near future! I'm pretty sure I've had this choker since I was a teenager, isn't it awesome when old items come back in style? I may be a minimalist in most aspects of my life, but when it comes to clothes, I like to hold on to my favourite pieces as I always have a feeling it may just come back in style eventually. We hit up The Crafty Pint after this and I filled up on delicious craft beers and fish and chips.
I adore the heartwarming moments I get to capture with these two. Danger (our dog) is more than just a pet, he's a true companion.
We fell in love with the colors of Hotel Zed in downtown Kelowna one beautiful evening. As we moved along the orange and blue walls, we turned a corner only to have stumbled upon a large purple wall that was painted with a giant mural of mountains and wildlife, it was a stunning surprise and a wonderful setting to for this downtown Kelowna portrait session with the gorgeous Haylee.
Before entering the place I've visited every year since I was a child with my father; Fort Edmonton Park, we did a corporate shoot for him at their location. At one point, we were shooting under a tree and all of a sudden he realized there were daddy long legs all over him, they were falling from the tree above where he was standing! Whereas I would've ran around frantically screaming like a 12 year old girl, he simply brushed them off and continued rocking the shoot. You go, Dad! If you're looking to buy or sell in Edmonton, Alberta and the surrounding area, you can check out his website here, he is one of the Top 10 Realtors in his office.
I took a solo roadtrip out to Pittsfield, Massachusetts to visit this goddess and share in some adventures. I had the opportunity to help her forge for ghost pipe to create tinctures with for her business Luna Faun Botanicals which, despite getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, was quite the enlightening experience. We tread lightly through the forest, keeping our eyes peeled for these magical, translucent plants peeking out from the earth, picking off each stem with intention and gratitude and always making sure to leave at least 10% behind. On my last day there, we dolled ourselves up and set out to chase the sun up a mountain in Berkshire County. These enchanting photos of Sahar are a result of that journey. The view was so breathtaking, I was literally left breathless until the last beam of light disappeared behind the mountains in the distance. I felt very blessed to have witnessed such beauty and to have been able to encapsulate it in these portraits. The last two photos of this session are of Sahar holding St. John's Wort which is an alluring small flower that can be used to treat depression.
We love shooting in Galloway, Ohio because there are many untouched nature spots to explore and shoot beautiful portrait sessions in. Jade is a seasoned thrifter and came across this adorable white romper that was so fun to photograph her in. I love railroads because they remind me of free spirits. Perhaps it's all the old school movies I've watched where nomads travel on them by foot or jump in an empty car and embark on a soul adventure, but there's something timeless about them that connects the past and present together, just as rompers were introduced in the 1900s and are just as timeless.
It was a perfect day to explore downtown Columbus, Ohio. We began in Goodale Park, made our way down High Street and ended up at the top of a parkade, overlooking the city. The view was just as incredible as shooting this spirited beauty! It was a joy spending time with Jade, as she is a true advocate for body positivity, self-love and isn't afraid to let go and be silly. It was amusing to watch her run around the parkade with a wand of bubbles and brought to the surface our own childlike sense of wonder as we captured these moments.
